A beautiful piece of dress history! This is midnight blue velvet cap is decorated with heavily beaded birds that flying around the rim. The beads are steel-cut and have a great weight to them, most are silver- colored though there is some tarnishing throughout due to age. From the early 20th century, likely 1900-1920. The bird’s eyes of a rose-gold color. The interior is made of a delicate peach silk. There is a wire inside along the upper rim which allows one to manipulate the shape a little. Beautiful cared for and very wearable, with no holes, missing beads or major flaws. I’ve never seen a hat like this! The brim, measured from the inside is approx. 25 inches. The crown is approx. 8 inches in diameter approx. The band is approx. 3 1/2 inches wide.
